Dixie Beard McClung was a graduate of Green Bank High School and Marshall University, a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, a 50-year resident of Charleston and a 50-year member of Sacred Heart Co-Cathedral.   She was a former Kanawha County school teacher and state employee. She was also active in Children's Theater and Kanawha Players.

Dixie Beard McClung, age 70, of Charleston, died Wednesday, May 4, 2005, after a short illness.   A native of Pocahontas County, Mrs. McClung was a graduate of Green Bank High School and Marshall University, a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, a 50-year resident of Charleston and a 50-year member of Sacred Heart Co-Cathedral.   She was a former Kanawha County school teacher and state employee. She was also active in Children's Theater and Kanawha Players.  Mrs. McClung was preceded in death by her parents, Layke M. and Edna P. Beard, a brother, John M. Beard, and a daughter, Mary Isabelle.   She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Paul J. McClung; children, Cynthia M. Crowder, Paul Jackson McClung, Martha M. White, and Thomas M. McClung, all of Charleston, Tina R. Stevens, of King George, Virginia, Aimee M. Echols, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, TSgt. Joseph D. McClung, USAF, of Charleston, South Carolina, and TSgt. James L. McClung, USAF, of Charleston, stationed in Germany; a sister, Bonnie Kaye Brown, of Mansfield, Massachusetts; and fifteen grandchildren.  Funeral services were held Tuesday at Sacred Heart Co-Cathedral with Father P. Edward Sadie officiating. Burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery.   Memorial donations may be made to Kanawha Hospice Care, Inc., or to the American Red Cross
