| Obituary - J. A. Taylor - Jacob Addison "Jack" Taylor was born near Dunmore on March 19, 1901, and died in the Davis Memorial Hospital at Elkins on April 25, 1984. he was the eldest son, and fifth of the ten children, born to the late William Harrison and Victoria Nottingham Taylor. After retiring from the employment with the U. S. Government as a master wood craftsman at Langley AFB Virginia, Mr. Taylor and his wife, the former Evelyn Kerr of Arbovale, moved to Dunmore in 1947. In post retirement years, he did custom wood planing, maintained a modest farming operation, and continued wood crafting. The furniture and other wood products he designed and constructed reflect a penchant for perfection and a love for the beauty found in wood. Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Kerr Taylor of Dunmore; one daughter, Mrs. Peggy Johnson of Roanoke, VA; one son, James Shores of Powhatan, VA; four sisters, Mrs. Nina Sheets, Mrs. Belle Woodell, and Mrs. Sylvia Gum, all of Green Bank, and Mrs. Nancy Cassell, of Dunmore; three brothers, Daniel Taylor of Green Bank, Clarence Taylor of Arbovale, and Kenneth Taylor of Charleston; eight grand children and eight great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were a daughter, Marie Jackalene Taylor, and two sisters, Mrs. Hallie Venosdale, and Mrs. Willa Taylor. Funeral services were held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, April 28 at the Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale, with the Rev. Edwin Tutwiller officiating. Interment followed in the Arbovale Cemetery. |
