| Obituary : Henry Thrasher, Engineer, dies. Henry Wood Thrasher, 51, prominent civil engineer affiliated with the Hornor Brothers firm died at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon at his home, 838 West Pike Street. He had been ill for the last month. Mr. Thrasher was known throughout West Virginia as an engineer of outstanding ability and was a member of the state board of registration for professional engineers. He joined the Hornor firm in 1912 and was actively engaged until his illness recently. Before becoming identified with the Hornor brothers, he was mining engineering for the Consolidation Coal Company. A graduate of Randolph-Macon college and a student at West Virginia university, Mr. Thrasher taught school for a time at Front Royal, VA. he was a member of the Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity. Mr. Thrasher was born February 8, 1886, at Royal Oak, Md. a son of the late John Calvin Thrasher and Nancy McNeel Thrasher. Surviving are his window, Mrs. Nancy Allen Thrasher, one daughter, Miss Nancy Lee Thrasher, a freshman student at Denison university, Granville, and two sons, Henry Wood Thrasher Jr., a freshman at Washington Irving High School and John Calvin Thrasher, both at home. A brother, Paul Thrasher, of Charleston, is headmaster of Porter Military Academy. A sister, Miss Mary Thrasher, resides at Bridgewater, VA. Funeral services will be held at the 2:30 O'clock tomorrow afternoon at the home with the Rev. Dr. J. Marion Smith, pastor of the Clarksburg Baptist Church, in charge. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Preston Welch, J. Elbert Matthews, Paul A. Hornor, James F. Allen, Lynn S. Allen and Wayne B. Hornor. Mr.. Thrasher was a member of the Baptist Church. |
