| Obituary - Henry Washington McNeel, 76, died in the Davis Memorial Hospital at Elkins on Thursday, January 16, 1975. He had been ill for several years in veteran's hospitals and Denmar Hospital. he was born on the old McNeel homestead near Hillsboro, April 29, 1899, the son of Joseph Samuel and Mary Curry McNeel. His parents and two brothers, Lloyd and Joseph Beard McNeel, preceded him in death. Mr. McNeel was a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church at Hillsboro. A veteran of World War I, he was a charter member of the American Legion, having joined in France when the Legion was first organized, and he has been an active member for over 55 years since. He was also a member of 40 and 8 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include one brother, Thomas P. McNeel of Lewisburg, and one sister, Miss Lucille McNeel of Hillsboro. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church by the Rev. Oren Lee of Morgantown and the Rev Bailey, with burial in the McNeel Cemetery. |
