| Dr. John O. McNeel - John Osborne McNeel, M. D., age 50 of St. Louis Missouri died Wednesday, June 19, 1957, A verdict of accidental death by drowning was made in the coroner of Jefferson County, Missouri. Dr. McNeel was born July 12, 1906 at Mill point, the oldest son of J. Lanty and Nora Wilson McNeel, who preceded him in death. He is survived by two brothers, Joe of Mill Point and Richard of Seebert. He was graduated from Washington and Lee University and the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Upon completion of his training he was Director of Student Health at the University of Virginia. During World War II he served one year in the Coast Guard, then joined the University of Virginia Unit of the 8th Evacuation Hospital, serving in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, and Austria. He held the rank of Major. Since the War, he has practiced medicine in Marlinton and Lewisburg and has been associated with the Puget Sound Medical Cooperative, Seattle, Washington and the Labor Health Institute of St. Louis, where he was at the time of his death. Services will be held at the Oak Grove Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro, but plans for the date are indefinite now. |
