From : Pocahontas Times - Golden Wedding Anniversary - Mr. and Mrs.
Joe Beard Kerr, of Green Bank, were honored with an open house celebrating
their golden wedding anniversary on July 4, 1979, given by their nine
children. They were married at the Ronceverte on August 31, 1929, by
the Reverend Thomas N. Ryder. Mrs. Kerr is the daughter of the
late John Henry and Della Minerva Lunger Lawton, former residents of Frank.
Mr. Kerr, a lifelong resident of Green Bank, is the son of the late James
McNerr and Ruby Beard Kerr. They are the parents of nine children:
Mrs. Charles (Jolene Dere) Lantz, Hubbard, Ohio; Dr. Kirklyn McNeer Kerr,
Baton Rouge, LA; Joe Philmore Kerr, Columbia, Ohio; Jerry Edward Kerr,
Warren, Ohio; Mrs. Sterl H. (Donna) Dean, Elkins, Mrs. Calvin (Dains) Sharp,
Jr. Summersville, South Carolina; Mrs. Sherrill (Ruby Jane) Vance, Salem,
Virginia; Mrs. Hunter (Minerva Jean) Wilfong, Rank, and Joe Beard Kerr, Jr.,
Green Bank. One infant son died at birth. There are 18
grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. All but one of the children
were present for the celebration. Mr. and Mrs. Kerr were greeted by a
host of family and friends, and received many useful gifts and beautiful
cards. |
