| George Cameron Beard aged 74 years, died at his home on Thursday morning June 8, 1950. He had been ill for several weeks. On Saturday afternoon the funeral service was held from the home by his pastor, Rev. Drury Jones. Burial in the family plot in Oak Grove Cemetery. The deceased was the son of the late Moffet and Nancy Crouch Beard. Of his father's family there remains his sisters, Mrs. S. E. McNeel of Hillsboro and Mrs. W. M. Irvine of Huntington. He was united in marriage to Mrs. Georgia Callison, who preceded him in death some years since. Their son Frank, preceded is parents. Thus is noted an honest, upright man and leading citizen. He took an active role in religious, civic, and business affairs. In religion, he was a member of the Church of his fathers, the Presbyterian. For years he had served as the Ruling Elder of the historic Oak Grove Church. |
| Obituary - Mrs. Georgia Callison Beard - Mrs. Georgia Callison Beard, aged 70 years, wife of G. C. Beard died in her home in Hillsboro. She had been in failing health for many months. Mrs. Beard was a daughter of the late Thomas Callison, of Locust Creek. Her mother's name was Miles. She became the wife of G. C. Beard, who survives. Their son, Frank, preceded his mother in death some years ago. The funeral was held from the home on Wednesday afternoon, by Rev. R. D. Marshal and Rev. J. K. Fleming. Interment at old Droop Church. |

Obituary :
Harry
Franklin Beard, Aged 26 years, and James Melvin Loudermilk, aged 22 years,
were fatally injured in an automobile wreck at Marvin Chapel, near Millpoint,
Saturday afternoon, October 28, 1933. Both young men suffered
fractured skulls and both died a few hours later at the Pocahontas Memorial
Hospital. In passing a loaded truck, the car grazed a hub.
This caused the car to leave the road. It struck a fence post and fell
back upon the unfortunate men. On Saturday afternoon, the funeral of Mr. Loudermilk was held from the Hillsboro Methodist Church by his pastor, Rev. Mr. Reynolds. Burial in the McNeel graveyard at Buckeye. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Rena Kelley, and two sisters, Loy and Thelma. His father, William Loudermilk, died some years ago. On Monday afternoon, the funeral of Mr. Beard was conducted from the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G.C.Beard at Hillsboro, by his pastor Rev. Marlin Curry. Burial in the Oak Grove Cemetery. he is survived by his wife, who was Miss Louise Barlow, daughter of Isaac Barlow, of Huntersville. |
