Children: Edwin Bertrand Heath 21 Oct 1949 Patti Jane Heath 18 Dec 1952 Cliff was my father-in-law, a chemical engineer graduate from Lehigh University, he worked for Bethlehem Steel for most of his career. Cliff had a pensive for taking things easy.. his nickname at the Steel was "Easy-Ed". He kept a snack drawer at the Steel where he sold snacks to others workers. Once famous story of Cliff was when he hopped a train to get to a Bethlehem Steel safety meeting... His "Easy-Ed" style suited Cliff well in WW2, where he had the job of loading bombs! Ed had an odd sense of humor.. His WW2 enlistment record shows his occupation as "Mountaineer"... He did indeed come from the Blue Mountain area around Lehigh Valley; but am sure this was just a joke when he filled out the application. Cliff was an avid ham radio operator, he received QSL cards from all over the world. After he retired, he had to curb his usage of ham radio during the day.. as the radio was disturbing his neighbors with their soap operas! Cliff's mother, Mabel, lived in the Sisters House at the Central Moravian Church in Bethlehem. We used to attend Christmas Service at the Central Church every year, which was a family gathering for the Heath's. His father was Dean of the Moravian Women's college for many years, and his father and mother were Moravian missionaries in Antigua; where Cliff was born. Cliff had a stroke near the end of his life, and needed an operation about 6 months after his stroke. He became septic after his operation and died of those causes.

![]() The picture above is from the Lehigh University class of 1936 yearbook. the caption reads .. Edwin Clifford Heath "Cliff". Bethlehem, PA Mercersburg Academy. 87 West Church St., Chemical Eng., Band (1, 2, 3) Glee Club (4), Chemical Society (1, 2, 3, 4). The art object above is a finished product of "Fem Sem". The lad has been shuttled back and forth between Lehigh and that institution for four years. We can't help it that his home is with the girls; it's an inheritance and not a gift! his case provides a novelty in coeducation with he commends to the authorities and specialists. A good chap in spit of fortune's freakiness! |
