I have always heard that Nathaniel (Louisa father, Nathaniel Graham) had lied about his age to enlist also. How old he really was and what age he told them I don’t know.  I don’t know what to think about the year of birth of Nathaniel. Mom found the newspaper article that had an interview on his 91st birthday and then his obituary that was 8 days later that was in the Trinidad Guardian they are dated Aug 14, 1936 and Aug 22, 1936 which would put him at 1845. In the article it says “ it is said that his parents at first lived in America, but returned to Glasgow shortly before he was born. When but nine months old, the Scottish-born member of the Graham family was taken to New York, where he was schooled etc…."
