Obituary : Elba Bright Callison, aged 50 years, died in a
hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, on Sunday morning January 6, 1946,
after an illness of several weeks duration. On Tuesday
afternoon, the funeral service was held from the Marlinton
Methodist Church by Rev. Fred Oxendale, assisted by Rev. Harvey
Porter. his body was laid to reset in the family plot in
Mountain View Cemetery. Mr. Callison is survived by his
wife, Elizabeth Jane Smith Callison, son and their two sons,
Samuel and Richard. his surviving brothers are Denny M. of
Beard, Josiah W. of Brooklyn, G. Steele of Oak Hill, and Orion
G. of Slab Fork. Thus is noted the passing of one of
best and most widely known citizens. For the past ten
years Mr. Callison had served he public as deputy sheriff of
Pocahontas County. Either years previous to this public
service he was deputy assessor for the Levels District. In
religion Mr. Callison was a Methodist and worked at his
Christianity. For years he had been on the official
board of his church, and Sunday School superintendent.
Taken away at the height of his usefulness, he is greatly
missed. |
