| Mrs. Rachel Clark Beard died recently at her home in Pocahontas County of tuberculosis. She was born March 21, 1876 and on January 2, 1899, was married to Forrest L. Beard who died in April of 1918. She had been a sufferer for a long time and about a month ago went to a sanitarium in what proved to be a vain hope of obtaining relief. The following children survive: Luther, Rice, Mrs. Laura Weiford, Eda, Clarence, Clara, Forrest Jr. Her mother, Mrs. Preston Clark, and sisters, Mrs. John Brock, Mrs. Guy Bell, Mrs. Clarence Kelley, and Miss Myrtle Clark, and her brothers, Norval and Lee Clark, also survive. |
| Mrs. Forrest Beard died at Terra Alta July 27. Her remains were brought to her mother's home, Mrs. Preston Clark, and the funeral was held at the Presbyterian Church Sunday at 2 O'Clock, after which her body was interred in the Oak Grove Cemetery. The floral tributes were many and beautiful. Mrs. Beard was a woman of many admirable traits and beloved by all who knew her, in her girlhood home and in Marlinton - her late home. |
